    • Aston Martin finally sticks the Mercedes-AMG M177 4.0 V8 into the DB11 for 2018 and why it is a better buy than the V12

The Aston Martin DB11 is a beautiful, heavy, and expensive car. It also is an impressive performer with its 600 horsepower 5.2 liter twin turbo V12. That is enough power to hustle through the quarter mile at roughly 125 miles per hour.

The DB11 V8 will likely be right on the V12's heels. Why? Because the car is lighter with the V8. The Mercedes-AMG V8 unit also makes more sense from a tuning perspective as there are lots of upgrades available in the aftermarket. You can make more power with the V8 right now than the V12.

The DB11 V8 is cheaper by $17k, 250 pounds lighter (38XX total), has more upgrades available, and will be better balanced. What is there not to like?

This will not be the last Aston Martin to use Mercedes-AMG power. Expect to see the M177/M178 utilized throughout the lineup.
